SG has gone up to 12% this year yeah?
Soo … why does my individual "employee information" in V35 still say 11.5%?
I've already done two pay runs - how do I fix this?
TIA, Rob
Go to the employees details and change the super rate then go to the processed pays, unlock them, delete and renter the hours, the new rate should then calculate correctly. If you have lodged the super you will have to work out what the shortfall is and add it to the next super lodgement. Instead of exporting a Saff file you will have to make a manual contribution
Super Guarantee changed to 12% in 2025 not this year
@Rob_9593369 The Tax Tables are automatic in that the calculation will default to the applicable table, based on the pay run (Paycheque) date.
The Super is semi-automatic - You can update applicable Super Payroll Item & Employee rates all at once, via the Employees dropdown menu > Update Super Rate :
IMPORTANT:
This process enables automatic bulk change FROM one (incorrect/old) rate TO a new one … BUT some users are not reading the above when doing this & are manually updating the rate in the FIRST box also! This will actually prevent the update as it will be checking for rates as per the FIRST box … & changing them to the rate in the SECOND box - If it has the same rate in both boxes, nothing will happen !
Always run reports to cross-reference figures before any lodgement (eg BAS, PAYGW, Super, STP etc)!
I add the rate to my Super report, so I can easily see if any aren't updated each time :
(NOTE: This is just an old sample file to demonstrate - showing Oct-Dec 24 - so the rate's obviously not current here ! 😊)
Please don't panic @Rob_9593369 !
We all make mistakes (because we're only human … so it happens)
Whilst you need to fix it - & they'll be some default interest/penalty charges included, but these are just system-generated/automated - you're not going to be in "trouble" ! The ATO are NOT looking to catch-out those who are trying to do the right thing. They're after those rogue employers who are blagantly disregarding the rules/refusing to comply! It is also much better if you identify an issue & take steps to rectify it, rather than them detecting it.
Once you've determined what's outstanding per quarter, you just need to submit a Super Guarantee Charge Statement for those to the ATO (via your Online Services for Business portal)
You can find the details/process on the ATO website, here:

Let us know how you go 😊
WTF? So I've paid Reckon $930 for the annual upgrade, and it doesn't automatically apply the new super rate? And I've been underpaying it for 12 months! How do I know I'm even using the right tax tables?!
Thank you Shaz - this is a nightmare I didn't need.
I can't believe the Reckon upgrade automatically adjusts tax tables, but not super rates.
It hits you with recurring warnings about the new tax tables, but doesn't say boo about the super!
My bad for not being aware of the change I guess, but sheesh … I don't recall ever getting anything from Reckon, or the ATO for that matter, regarding the change to 12% last year.
And here I was thinking how smoothly EOFY had gone 🙇♂️
So what do you suggest is the best way of dealing with my SG underpayments since July 1st 2025?
Perhaps do individual employee reports at 11.5% first, then use your method above to change to 12%, then do new reports and remit the difference I guess?
How do I enter that in Reckon so it becomes part of the payroll records?
How do I describe it to my clearing house?
What's the food like in jail? 😰
Thanks Shaz,
I'll work my way through it - I know the ATO aren't the ogres that many think they are.
I still hold a grudge with Reckon for all the extra work they've caused me though.
They get paid good money for the annual upgrade - their customers should expect it to be automatically up to date!
I'm no programmer, but if they can update the tax tables, why can't they update the super?
At the very least, provide a pop-up saying we need to manually amend it!
Someone should let them know … grrr!
Thanks again, Rob
Unfortunately, I imagine automating the Super update probably isn’t as straightforward as the tax tables. The base ATO tax tables are Australia-wide & part of our Australian Tax Legislation so are not able to be negotiated. However, in some industry or workplace EBAs/Awards, the default SG rate can be more than the statutory amount, so defaulting everyone’s rate automatically, probably wouldn’t be a feasible option for some 😬
To be fair, I believe there are several popups/prompts in different areas regarding updating the super rate … but many users don’t read these, before dismissing/closing them 😫🤦🏻♀️
Best of luck working through the paperwork - You've got this! 👌🏻
If you run into any calculation issues with the SGC statement itself, let me know 😊
