Unexpected Disconnects in Reckon Accounts Hosted
Hey everyone, Happy #TipTuesday!
This week's Tip Tuesday covers a few simple checks that may help improve your Hosted experience and reduce browser disconnections from Hosted.
While Hosted sessions are designed to automatically log out after a period of inactivity for security reasons that we are required to enforce, web browsers can sometimes put tabs to sleep or activate power saving that may cause an unexpected disconnection sooner than expected for Hosted.
Google Chrome: Prevent Hosted Tabs from Sleeping
Google Chrome includes performance features designed to reduce memory and battery usage and other web browsers do this as well. In some situations, these settings may cause the Hosted session tab to become inactive.
Step 1: Open Chrome Settings
- Open Google chrome
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings.
Step 2: Open Performance Settings
- Select Performance from the left-hand menu.
- Expand the Performance section.
Step 3: Configure Power & Sleeping Tabs
If Energy Saver is turned on:
- Select Turn on only when your battery is at 20% or lower or Toggle it off completely.
- Select Memory and Select either Moderate or Balanced (recommended) or Toggle it off completely.
Step 4: Restart and Test
Once the changes have been made:
- Close Google Chrome.
- Close any applications as required.
- Restart your computer.
- Open Google Chrome again.
- Sign in to Reckon Accounts Hosted.
- Open your company file.
Note: These settings are not exclusive to Google Chrome. Most modern browsers, including Microsoft Edge, Brave, Firefox, and others, offer similar performance and power-saving features. Search your browser's settings for terms like Sleep, Performance, or Memory Saver and adjust them accordingly to help keep your Reckon Accounts Hosted session active.
I hope this helps you and if you have feedback, please leave it below.
