Hey Diane,
Welcome to the Reckon Community.
I'll answer your post in two parts.
1. To go to one user you do not need to do anything. You just need to open the file and use with only one user! (easy as that!).
2. Regarding which edition to use, it depends on your company. The difference in the editions is industry specific reports. If your business does not match any of the specific titles, go with the General Business Edition.
Note: If you already have an existing company file, you may wish to open that on your new installation. Going to One user license does not affect the company file, it just means that only one user can access the file.
Let me know how you go.
Thanks,
Mirko

Hi Community,
As a new member this is my first post that is not exactly on subject here but I hope you can help.
Until 2 years ago my building company ran a 5 user version of QB premier. At the time the push from Reckon and accountants was the online version. We were soon caught up in the hype and signed on for the online version. The support to get us going was no less than excellent and we started with the very best of intentions. Unfortunately this has not been a great success and as our office is in a rural area consistent problems with connection speeds, Telstra line issues, power outages has meant a lot of time with the help desk or running on a 3g dongle. It's time at the end of 2013/ 14 to leave hosted for the reliable desktop version. One thing we didn't know was that there was no path back to the 5 user version we once enjoyed. ( Only with a very heavy financial penalty ) . We have been offered a single user enterprise version but this is a very long way short of the product we gave up when we started this process. As I cannot even find mention of 2014 premier contractor on the Reckon site what would you suggest we could do to return to the stable and reliable multi user version we once enjoyed and at a reasonable cost. This hosting has been very expensive in time and resources. Any suggestions including beginning a new file and importing chart and item lists would certainly be considered.
Many thanks

Hi Tony,
Welcome to the Reckon Community.
I'm sorry that your Hosted experience has been less than satisfying for you.
Your option now is to revert to a 5-user desktop Enterprise version. It has the same Industry choices as Premier. You can transfer your company file from Hosted to your local PC and continue using the file immediately in the desktop version.
Call our Customer Service on 1800-RECKON for further information.
To go back to a Premier version you'd best talk to a Professional Partner who may be able to make the conversion quickly and economically for you. Lists can be easily exported, but not the transactions. See http://home.reckon.com.au/support/Home/ReckonSupport/FindAReckonAccreditedPartner.aspx
to search for a partner in your area.
We have a guide for starting a new company file and transferring basic information from the old file at: http://library.reckon.com.au/library/pdf/qbi_new%20File%20in%20QBi%204.pdf which will be of interest to you.
Hope this information is helpful for you.
regards,
John
