Using Inventory Assembly for Builds of Product Bundles
I've starting playing with using Inventory Assembly for a carton of products that has various set items within it.
I was hoping that when I then added that InvAss item to a Sales Order, it would pull through to show the individual items on the Inventory on Sales Order
But this doesnt seem to be the case?
Does this only work with the Sales Order is turned to an invoice?
As we manufacture our own product, I want to know what individual products we have to manufacture to fill items on Orders

Hi @donnamaro1
Assemblies are separately-trackable Items in their own right which you need to progressively "Build", so that they're complete & ready for ordering/selling.
When you go to Build Assemblies (Accessible from either the Home screen shortcut or the Suppliers dropdown menu > Inventory Activities), this tells you the maximum you can build (based on the quantities available of the Items within it) & you specify the number to build:
You can also use the Bill of Materials to show you component availability at any given time:
This can be generated by clicking Print within the open Item itself:

So can do a “build” so that it shows as a sales order?
As we largely make in demand I use sales orders to manage inventory & what needs to be packaged we don’t just pick completed products from a shelf
Eg 15 items of Product A needed for current sales orders
once the orders are complete they become an invoice0 -
A Sales Order (SO) won’t show the assembly breakdown (in much the same way as when you order something, your order shows the completed product eg just “wardobe” … not the number of separate panels, screws, connectors etc)
You would see how many of the assemblies are on SOs then go to Build Assemblies & ensure you can “Build” that quantity. If not, you will see how many you have available of each component so can then determine how many more - if any - you need to order in 😊

Hmm thats a bit frustrating as I need to see the components on the sales order as 1 assembly is made up of around 30-40 individual items

@donnamaro1 Yes, just generate the Bill of Materials for the relevant Assembly Items on the SOs 😊:
