Will Reckon Accounts Plus read a Reckon Accounts Premier data file
Currently using Desktop Reckon Accounts Plus Premier (Professional Services)
Looking at downgrading to Reckon Accounts Plus (Desktop).
Will my current data file still be usable in Accounts Plus?

Welcome to the community @bradn ! π
Reckon Accounts desktop has just Plus or Premier, so Iβm assuming you mean youβre currently using Premier but want to downgrade to Plus ?
Unfortunately, a file can generally only be upgraded (but not down) due the additional features already within a higher-version file π¬

Thanks for answer :)
Yes currently using Premier - Professional Services.
Looks my options are:
- stay with the same product
- Migrate to online with free migration service of 2 years worth of data.

Hi @bradn
The Reckon Accounts Plus and Premier data files are interchangeable.
A Reckon Accounts Premier can open a Reckon Accounts Plus data file.
A Reckon Accounts Plus can open a Reckon Accounts Premier data file.
It is the Reckon Accounts Enterprise/Reckon Accounts Hosted data file that cannot be opened by a Reckon Accounts Plus or Reckon Accounts Premier software.
If a data file created in Reckon Accounts Premier that makes use of any feature such as specific reports, estimates, multi-currency, etc that is not available in the Reckon Accounts Plus software, then when a Reckon Accounts Premier data file is opened using a Reckon Accounts Plus software that feature will not be accessible.
The file will still open.

Wow that's interesting @Datarec. I was under the impression that you couldn't open a file in a lower version

Thanks for that info!

@Datarec I though that was only if you're using the Accountant edition ? π§π€

Hosted is actually the desktop Enterprise version, but is "hosted" on Reckon's servers (hence then name!) so you don't need to migrate anything @bradn - You simply upload your existing (Premier) file to the Hosted platform & restore/open it there π

Hi @bradn
The migration offer is most likely to "Reckon One".
The alternative is to get a Reckon Accounts Hosted subscription as indicated by @Acctd4.
Depending on your requirements in terms of functionality and price you can choose whether to:
a) remain on the Reckon Accounts Premier (no change required)
b) get a Reckon Accounts Plus (may lose functionality for things like multi-currency, estimates, etc)
c) go to Reckon Accounts Hosted (data file format change, retain all other features)
d) go with a migration to Reckon One (check to confirm it has all the features you need, and familiarise yourself with the new product interface and way of doing things)

@bradn it's just my 2 pennies worth, but depending on your requirements I'd suggest considering the migration to Reckon One.
I've had 3 or 4 clients move over from Reckon Accounts and it's been pretty good. It's been a learning experience but it does most things for my small business clients. It gets frequent updates as well which has been refreshing.
YMMV though depending on what you need
