Software Update Won't install

I have been a Quicken/Reckon user for 20 years. I paid renewal subscription on 17 Jan 2026 (due 4 Feb 2026). I have just tried running software, but my software said my subscription was out of date. I called Reckon support and they advised how to download and install the update. I uninstalled previous version and then ran the download and subsequent install. However, when I run the software (1) I am asked if I would allow Reckon to update my computer, (2) a red dialogue box appears with "Personal range v31" and (3) the red box disappears and no software is run.

As part of the install process, a Reckon icon is placed on my desktop, but this icon has a yellow and blue shield over the bottom right corner. This typically indicates the need to run the app as administrator. I am the administrator, so what is happening?

I explained all this to your team member who answered my phone call, but he couldn't help and nor could any of his colleagues and so referred me to this web site. When I asked him to transfer me to his supervisor so I could pass on some feedback, he said this is not possible.

So now my paid-for software gives me a support number to call, which I did, but they were unable to help. They could not or would not pass me to an area that could help me, but instead referred me to this web site. I need to get into my Reckon software as a matter of urgency, but I keep running into brick walls. Surely the Reckon organisation can create a more customer-centric support facility that simply doesn't pass the customer on to another area.

If you've used the software for 20 years then you should know it doesn't come with technical support. I don't like it either it no point crying foul over it.

In terms of your actual problem, have you actually tried running the software with admin rights by right clicking on the icon?

Did you provide permission when the window appeared asking if you allow the Reckon install to make changes?

Hello Eric, fair point, but all I wanted was to be able to run my software.

Problem all sorted. All I did was restart my computer. Typically new/updated software asks you to restart the computer, but this install did not.
