I am setting up payroll in Reckon for the first time and want to check that the leave accruals are accurate. If I set leave to accrue hourly, how much annual leave and personal leave should accrue for a 38 hour week? Thankyou

0.03846 per hour personal and 0.07692 per hour holiday will produce 76 hours and 152 hours respectively at the end of a year.

This does it pto rata automatically as long as you do it per hour like i suggested. If someone only works half the hours they only açcrue half the leave.

The percentage is 7.6923 for annual leave. It doesn't change no matter what hours a week you work. Of course its based on the NES of four weeks annual leave or 4/52 (7.62923%). Some awards have five weeks annual leave so the accrual rate is 5/52 (9.6153%) Personal leave is half of this based on the NES of 10 days.

Correct Stella, I'm not a fan of basing it on a set amount of hours a week for just this reason. I recently had one emplyer changed the working hours from 38 to 40 a week and didn't change the leave accruals. It's a mess.

I have done a practice pay using 0.07692 for a 38 hour week and it accrues as 2.55. (Converts to hours/minutes) Does this seem correct?

Annette that is correct. Its 2.92 in decimals. If you multiply it by 52 you get 152 which is four weeks at 38 hours

Oh and of course you also accrue leave while you are on leave.

Andy LSL is only relevant at seven years because that's when it gets paid out but only if it's a result of redundancy. Otherwise it's not payable until 15 years under the NES. NO one I know accrues for LSL until it comes due. Of course if you in Construction at least in Victoria long service leave is parable monthly

Because Andrew up until 10 years it won't be paid. I hope that's clear. Well unless it is a bona fide redundancy.

Penny have you checked the appropriate award? Have you looked at the NES? This is not a simple question. The rate of accrual for annual leave is 7.6923% personal leave is half of that.
