Which Database Server processes are obsolete?

i wanted to tidy up on my server, as there are still old versions of Quickbooks installed. I've used Control Panel - Add/Remove programs to uninstall all the old versions. However in Services I see a number of QuickBooksDBnn services (nn = 17 - 22) and QuickBooks Database Manager Service, only some of which are running. The Reckon Accounts Help screen re database server says: "Reckon Accounts uses a database server to manage access to the company file. When running, the database server can create the following service, user, and processes. Important: In order to maintain access to the company file, the following should not be deleted or stopped. Service: Reckon AccountsDB17. User: QBDataServiceUser17. Processes: QBDBMgr.exe and QBDBMgrN.exe." I'd like to know which of the services are actually being used by Accounts, and how to remove those that are obsolete? Thanks

Hi Norma,
Welcome to Reckon Community!
Pertaining your query, the current Reckon Accounts 2013 is the version 22. Therefore, the QBDataServiceUserxx is 22. Every year version increments the version number by one i.e. the 2012/13 was the version 21.
This comes together with the QuickBooks Database Server Manager or QBCF Monitor Service.
?Normally, in order to remove the Services from older version is to simply Uninstall that version. If they are still on the list of Services, try using a 3rd party Uninstaller such as REVO or Windows Installer Cleanup if there are still remnants of the older versions.
Hope that helps.

Many thanks Jamaiel. As uninstalling has not removed the services I will try your recommended uninstallers. I still have QuickBooks Database Manager Service, which is set to Automatic, but not started. I should leave this as it is?0 -
Hi Norma,
When you install with either the Reckon Accounts and File Server or File Server only on the Server, then it will have the QBDataServiceUser22 and QuickBooks Database Server Manager. Both must be set to Automatic and Started to enable multi-user capability.
So in essence, you should have the QuickBooks Database Server Manager set to Started.

BTW, if you are in a Terminal Server environment, a hanged session may also be causing the issue if it cannot be removed or Stopped. Consider trying to see if there are any and end them when possible.0

Thanks I have started the QuickBooks Database Server Manager. However, we have been running a multiuser environment without problems. There are no other terminal server sessions. I think this is now resolved!0
