How to re-arrange account code in chart of account?

    Hi there Christine,

    There are two ways of sorting this...

    1. this way will only effect this one account..... Click on the little diamond beside the account name and drag down to where you want it.

    2. puts all your accounts back into Alpha order....Click on Account button in the bottom left corner and choose 're-sort list'. Doing it this way helps with the total health of your company file.




    Both of these methods can be done on any list in Reckon Accounts.

    If you are having issues with your file the second method is often reconmended to help 'clean' your data, before doing verify/rebuilds.

    What will happen if return to original order?

    What they are referring to here, is the second option I mentioned above....

    Resort the list into the 'Original order' as in... that list will go back into Numerical/alphabet (1-9 & A-Z) order. 

    The effect will be.... exactly what you want... TR-UOB will go down the list to sit under TR-SCB

    Re-sorting sorts the whole COA list. (You can do this to any list in RA)

    All Accounts of Type will go back together e.g.your bank accounts will sit together, all asset accounts together, all liability accounts together, all income accounts, all expense accounts etc etc.... (and there is an 'Original Order' that these all sit in too. eg 1. Bank, 2. A/R, 3. OCA, 4. Fixed Asset, 5. A/P..... etc)

    Sub-accounts stay sub-accounts, but in alphabetical order to.. so you might find that your Bank loan-CB 29 (USD) might end up on top of Bank Loan-DBS (USD) as C comes before D.

    Another example would be your Sundry Creditors, Contra (Peter-USD) will probably sit on top of Contra (Peter-JPY) .... J comes before U

    Most people do prefer their lists in Alpha order, if you have had it mubbled jubbled for a while it might take a bit to get used to it back in alphabetical order again.
