adding numerical columns to sales orders and invoices

I am running Accounts Premier 2014 and want to add 2 numerical columns (workers days and materials $) to sales orders and invoices so I can record no. of days sold in a month for example and run reports periodically so I can breakdown my sales figures - is this possible? The customised fields seem to be character fields only.
