Company dropdown>set closing date

Hi Carolyn, as Charles suggests above, From the text menu at the top of your screen, go to Company, then select Set Closing Date, this will open your preferences screen on the Accounting sidebar on the Company Preferences tab, on the second bottom pane titled 'Closing Date' there is a 'Set Date/Password' button. Use this to set a period closing date. Be sure to set a password.

Thank you both for your help with this. I have now set closing dates. We had a problem with a user back dating transactions

HI Carolyn,
Great to hear that sorted things for you....
Did you also notice there is also an option to 'warn if transactions are ?? day in the past/future'
this is also in the Edit/Preferences/Company Preferences/Accounting .... date warnings.
Standard is to have the days set to 90 & 30 but you can change this to suit your situation better. Many of my clients use this feature.

I did notice that but sadly they were ignoring that message.
I'm sure this should fix the problem
