eCommerce Integration
Ven
I was wondering if any one knows of eCommerce integration for the Reckon products (ie POS 2015 / Accounts). Have seen a fair bit around the Quickbooks POS and Accounts, but not sure if these will work with Reckon.
Haven't settled on a eCommerce platform yet, but will probably be based on WordPress platform.
Regards,
Ven

Hey, There is no supported integration from Reckon POS to any 3rd party as it's purely designed to work with reckon accounts, so no api/sdk available. The main idea is that POS is to work for front of house staff and Reckon accounts handles any integration. However.. Although unsupported there is a work around that will help you staff keep stock amounts up to date via integrating a website to POS.. pOS Enterprise uses an unencrypted ms SQL database that you could directly update and query against. But this would take some smarts to do as you would not only have to modify the transactions tables but also the product list table and the time tables as these help handle end of day print outs. I would recommend starting with a fresh POS and do 1 transaction for 1 item and see which tables are affected. Then do a 2nd one and see. When you have it figured out manually try a third one via SQL script and process your end of day adding up all your values and post into a copy of your data file to make sure it works. One thing to think about is REMEMBER TO BACKUP YOUR FILE BEFORE PLAYKNG WITH ANYTHING!! Have fun and happy pos-ing

Good point Andrew, definitely anything you do that has altered the way the software works will ultimately be your responsibility, this includes any miscalculations of tax etc. But I mean you can't really expect reckon to support your custom coding that they haven't touched, too many variables to take into account not to mention it would require a programmer to trouble shoot which would be at considerable cost even if it were possible. So moral to the story, if you don't want to take 100% responsibility then don't touch it. Chris

Hopefully the change in direction to promote software partners will uncover some opportunities for things like this.

Sorry Andrew, got distracted during the typing and hit submit a little early. Been keen to meet up with software development partners as opposed to PPs and APs on the delivery/support/commercial end of the Reckon game. There's some 500 SDK developers
(alleged number quoted at Reckonconf)
, and many that await the API of those. But there's always been a
'where are they'
question, as it has been costly to date to have names of s/w devt teams promote wares on the website. In the past 6 months I've been busy seeking out many of such s/w devt partners to exchange notes with. I've uncovered many in my field. But there was a nice presentation last week at Reckonconf that listed numerous parties providing integration solutions, and I understand moves are afoot to get them formally listed. It will of interest to chase this down to see if there are any that relate to POS. There are some good knowledgeable POS players out there in the AP group. Worth an exploration to seek their comment on integration in your space, Andrew. It's not an area that I focus on, beiong more involved with CRM,. ERP and the like. But I have noted some good POS teams
(ie: Dave Bird for instance)
that are very approachable, and worth Ven's approaching. I'd go through the Partner Development Managers in the respecitive states, or even make contact with Neil Rustige who is POS development manager to seek a list. .....Gaz

Hi all,
There is work underway to overhaul the marketplace site as you can imagine as well as some other things behind the scenes that we can't go into at this time specifically.
When this work is complete you will see a multitude of developers available to integrate with the software.
Thanks
