Help on accessing old versions of Quickbooks for a short period of time

I work as a trainee insolvency practitioner, quite often it is my job to retrieve and access company files. Every three months or so I seem to be getting old versions of QuickBook files. i.e. at current I'm trying to access QuickBooks Premier 2010-11.. My options are 1. Gain a trial key (haven't had success with this). 2. Somehow buy the old version, although not sure if it's available. This is not an ideal option because each version I seem to be given is different ranging from 2002-2013 and would not be cost effective for the amount of time I will use on the file. Can someone help me with this issue. Mainly, the availability of old trial keys?

Hi Brad
When you say retrieve and access old files does this mean you never have to give the file back to someone to use?
If you don't have to give the file back to someone to work on or you aren't making changes to the file yourself and they are still working with it, you only have to have a newer program and upgrade a copy of all the old files to the new version.
You can pay an annual licence fee to the latest RA program of your choice for your PC or you can go the cloud and hosted.
When you get an old file, make a copy, then restore the old version and upgrade it to the new version.
Once the file is upgraded it can't be opened in the old program, but as I said if no one else but you is working on the file, this is OK, or you can still do this if you are only viewing, and someone else can still be working on the live file in the old program.
