using Quicken Home & Business, transactions are being split which I do not require.

Hi, transactions will be split if you are entering with tax codes.
But all entries will also be split with a debit and credit entry.0 -
Why, I don't want a split transaction for a single item?0

Are you set up for GST? If so then the line will be split, as some of it goes to the purchase/income account and some of it goes to the tax account.
