upgrade from quicken personal plus 2012

I'm about to upgrade my Quicken Personal Plus 2012 running on  mac parallels  with windows 7 environment.  Before I do, are there any steps I should take to ensure that new software can access my data and that it goes successfully?  I have many years of financial data I don't want to lose.

    just worry that the 2012 version will stop being supported at some stage.  Also hope that more recent versions might identify my bank transactions better.
