When we run the BAS report. Reports\Tax\Simplified BAS. We have to switch to single user mode. This is a pain. And, we can just run the tax reports individually. So why the need for single user mode just to run the report?

We need to go into single user mode for Simplified BAS and Tax reports as no other user can work in the account while compiling these reports. The reason being is that any other transactions performed in any areas of the program while compiling these reports could cause errors and incorrect reports. It is much like 2 users trying to perform payroll transactions at the same time.

Hope this helps to explain you question.

Agree with Christine. Also being in single user will ensure the reports run quicker as they are not searching for new transactions from others using the program. When in multi-user, if you run a P&L sometimes this can take forever if others are entering invoices or cheques etc.

Thanks, Agreed, it is like performing payroll. But I can perform payroll in multi user mode.

The problem is you have to get staff out to go to single, and you have to remember to switch it back. It's clunky that way.

    Thanks
