How to run Reckon Accounts on a Mac

?I know there have been conversations about this previously but I would like to know the technical details on how to run Reckon on a Mac.  I believe there are options out there to make this happen whilst Reckon (hopefully) get around to making a version that runs on iOS.  Many thanks.

1.   As Kevin suggests,  you can go to the Cloud using a Safari Browser,  and use Reckon Accounts Hosted or the new Reckon ONE  (but they are totally different products and features)

2.   Or you can get a little complex and install "Parallels" on your iMAC and load a WIndows O/S inside there to run the Windows version of the desktop product of Reckon Accounts

3.   Or  you can run a MAC based RDP (remote Desktop Processor) utility to sit at the comfort of your preferred iMAC PC,  but run the Reckon Accounts Desktop product from an adjacent Windows PC dedicated as a application server on your local area Network,  or farther afield at a branch office , say,  but one that is running Windows that supports the Reckon Accounts DESKTOP traditional product

4.  Or you may have a SERVER if you are by chance in an office environment running a network of PCs with Windows Server 2016 at its heart,  and adopt similar to step (3)  with RDP-for-MAC

There's the combinations I'm familiar with.

The choice of PLATFORM may be compromised by other desires/needs you or your business have to cope with.    The flexibility of being self-contained versus dependency on the Cloud over internet,  and your ability to harness a good internet connection at all times are all factors that determine why you've chosen your iMAC,  which may be none of our business here.  

Depending on the PRIORITY of running some other business software that demands a iMAC based on iOS platform,  versus the additional requirement of running your accounting,  all needs to be balanced up in terms of how you comfortably can run BOTH.

 But the bottom line is, there is no native DESKTOP version of Reckon Accounts that runs directly on the iOS platform,  so you would need to consider bridging/remoting across to some other platform to achieve access.     Some other ideas are outlined here:

Bottom line:  Computers should be about the APPLICATION you are running, and not the brand name of the hardware of the operating system on it.  The latter two should be determined from what's needed to run the application.

This question is going to get a lot more serious with many users being forced to use that gigantic pile of rubbish known as Windows 10 aka MS Spyware 10.  We still merrily running Windows 7 and there is no way we will use Windows 10 so here is hoping that Reckon / Quickbooks are paying attention.

And when the NBN fails or your online data is corrupted.  Read the fine print.  It's called tough ****.  Call me old fashioned by 100 % reliance on the cloud makes me very very nervous.

Umm yes until you have Windows 10 constantly destroying your productivity with never ending updates and communications to Microsoft.  Windows 10 is no longer an option for our business so we have to have alternatives but we don't want to switch from Reckon/Quickbooks.  Having used many accounting packages we still rank them far and away the best for small business.
