Hi I have just transferred my H&B 2013 investment info from 1 computer to another.  But I seem to have Lost Investment price information.  The initial transaction price is there - just not the interim price info.

Hi David - thank you for your response.  I backed it up from the old computer to an external hard drive and then opened it from there on the new computer  Jim

in fact not as I look more carefully  - it was a QDF file - the box, back up to compressed archive (.rkn) file is ticked - but when I try to open it on the new computer there is only a QDF file.

discovered the issue - I needed to restore from backup - not open  a file so all good now  Thanks so much as your identification of the .rkn file made me look further afield.  Thanks Dave

Can I ask another Q please - If I want to change the name of the file - will I lose that price info?  Thx Jim

There is some misleading comments in this thread.

    1) I do the backups when QPP suggests and create a .rkn file. If I change the name to .zip and look at the contents, there are 7 qdata.xxx extension files. Jim, I don't know why you only have qdata.QDF in your .rkn file as I always have 7 files. Backup has always worked for me.

    2) "The Price history file (which is unique to Australian version) is yourdata.QPH." The .QPH file has been in QPP since 2004, when QPP was supported by the US developer. I would be surprised if .QPH is unique to the Australian version.

    3) When transferring between computers, why use a backup ? I copy the complete dataset directory across ( via a usb) and just open this dataset on the new computer after doing a program install, although there should not be any difference.

I have not experienced any of the backup/restore problems being reported, or few of the upgrade problems. Don't avoid doing backups !!

Last year I did have to get an update string twice, as the first did not work after the first use. After reading all these reported problems, I always wonder if this year will be different. I am keeping RPP 2019 until I am forced to change, as there are again no reported improvements.
