Transfer of data from one Company file to another

We are one company with many entities. Each entity has it's own Reckon company file and at the end of each quarter the P&L and Balance Sheet figures are manually entered into the main company file (distinguishing each entity with a separate class number). We have been doing this for many years (10+ at least) but am now wondering is there a better way? Is there a way we can dump the data more regularly without having to create an Excel spreadsheet with the data and manually entering it. This also means there is always a lag time in reporting. Is there some way I can make this more "live". Any feedback welcome.

Dear Margaret,

The easiest way of handling data transfers is to export out all appropriate lists (Chart of Accounts, Suppliers list, Customers list, et al) and import them into a new "blank" company file, then enter any balances in as a journal for each of the relevant list items. For some items, you may need to manually enter in the Cost of Goods pricing if you base items/item reports from there, but that is mainly due to transactions being non-transferrable.

The Reckon Accounts Enterprise desktop software or the Reckon Accounts Hosted platform, has a feature that allows for 'multi-company reporting' that combines information from multiple QBW (Company Data Files) into a consolidated report in Excel.
