I installed accounts plus 2021 on desktop and all is well

then I installed on laptop but it fails to activate, it says too many activations

that is strange because I always had it activated on desktop and laptop for the last 12 years, Reckon accounts 2020 and earlier

I phoned support and they said I can only have one installation now

that is great for $650 a year, I can no longer travel and do my accounts

any suggestions on alternative solutions???

btw, every software I own allows at least two installation and Microsoft Office allows 5 (FIVE)

    Hi @Anton Strauss

I'm not exactly an expert in this area but from what I understand the licence agreement for Reckon Accounts Plus (desktop) has always been for a single user/device unless you've purchased an additional licence (I'll get some confirmation on that).

Have you previously purchased the additional licence and its not installing correctly? ie. is that where you're running into trouble?

I had never purchased an additional license and it has worked fine for 12 years

now it does not, strange for now $650 and possibly $700 next year

I am not familiar with any software on the planet that does not allow a second installation for travel such as laptop

    Microsoft Office allows 5 installations

all other software I have allow two

It sounds like you may find it better to move to Reckon Accounts Hosted (RAH) instead ?

RAH allows you to access from any device anywhere as it’s (semi) online. I believe the cost is around $ 720 p/yr but it’s the top version (eg Reckon Accounts Enterprise) so has all the additional features. The interface looks exactly the same though so no new learning required! ☺️

Further to Shaz’s suggestion you are also entitled to download a desktop version to use when there is no internet

I have a bit of a hangup about a hosted version, what if the reckon Host server gets hacked? We hear things like that all the time

But what if my system crashed, can I restore it (the system) from a backup in programm Paragon Backup, then the program will continue to work? Or will it count as a second install?

As long as you backup your file to a USB, you should backup every time you use it. Whether it’s the online version or desktop.

@Anton Strauss Reckon’s servers & HEAVILY encrypted/protected to prevent that being possible. They are actually far more secure than online banking! As a result - unlike some of the cloud competitors - Reckon have never had a data security breach.

@temirfedor The beauty of Hosted is there’s nothing to “install” because the program is accessed on Reckon’s servers & not your own PC so you can access it from any computer (that has internet)

No conversion required - You just upload it to the Hosted platform ☺️
