GOVconnect ABN already registered


Hi,
I am trying to run stp for the first time and have registered all my details a while ago but i am now trying to ru the file and I've got to the point where enter my ABN. Once entered, it populated with the name of the company and email address, however when I click verify it tells me that "Sorry, that ABN has already been registered. If you have one, please try a different GST branch". I don't have a different GST Branch, and this is my first time trying to connect to GovConnect. There seems to be no way forward. Can someone please help?

If you've already registered, that's the issue. You need to login to the Reckon GovConnect portal instead:

so this is what's happening i click on the reckon gov connect icon in reckon and its takes me to this screen , i then click get started and i get the msg ABN is already registered. am i missing something?

From what you've described so far, it sounds like your logging into GovConnect using a different account (email address & password) that was used when you first setup GovConnect a while ago as you've mentioned. You just need to make sure you're logging in with the same account that it was previously registered to.
Can you let me know the ABN that you registered and I'll take a look at how its setup on my end.

Hi Bec,
When you log into the Reckon Portal and attempting to access GovConnect, are you 100% logging in with that email address or something else? eg. your Reckon Accounts Hosted user name for example? 🤔
Only reason I ask is, when I search your ABN on my end, its coming up under that email address you've listed so provided that you're logging in using it the GovConnect service you've already setup should appear.

That is possible. It automatically took me to that reckon portal when i tried to lodge STP from the 2021 desktop version.
I am using the Reckon 2021 desktop version even though we have accounts hosted ( i don't use it ) that possibly could be the reckon accounts hosted username that it logged me in from.
I hope that makes some sort of sense

I just logged out and tried signing into reckon with that email but the password is not working , can i reset it ?

Yep you can reset it. When the prompt comes up asking which account you want to reset the password to just enter your email address. An email will come through to your inbox and then just follow the prompts to reset it.
