Income amounts not appearing in the accounts list

Options

Hi, I've just started using Reckon Accounts Premier 2021 (Desktop) and when I raise a sale invoice an amount appears in Accounts Receivable for the total owing, the GST Payable has an amount in it BUT there isn't anything in the Sales Account on the Account Listing. So not double entry then! If I click on the Sales Report, the amount shows. How do I fix this?

It is double entry, look at the account the sales item is linked to, and make sure the report is set to accrual basis. Exactly what report are you referring to, have you looked at a Profit & Loss?

    Hi Kris,

The report I'm referring too is the Chart of Accounts which only displays Balance Sheet accounts with a amount in them NOT expense or income (Profit & Loss).

The business is a powdercoating service and each job is different in its requirements so there is no fixed price and each description is different. I've set up an item so I can produce invoices, have created a template for this and it prints fine - mind you the invoice screen shot the system uses for me to create the invoice with, has no resemblance to the completed print version. I'm new to Reckon having come from MYOB at the request of our external accountant and I prefer the desktop version over the cloud because of connection difficulties.

In each case, Chart of Accounts, Item and Invoice, I've followed the "how to" instructions, so what have I done wrong?

The. Chart of accounts is not a report it’s just a list of the accounts - the ones that show the balances are the ones on the balance sheet, the income and expenses are the ones on the profit and loss, this is the report you need to look at. If you have linked your item on the invoice to a sales account you will see them in the profit and loss. If you click on the sales account on the chart of account and right click - fast report - you will see all the transactions as well

Your invoice view is customisable when you are in the invoice screen, easy to do but if you are concerned just call me.

Thanks Kris. I understand that now. Coming from a MYOB user background where the "Accounts List" showed all current balances in everything, I guess I was expecting something similar with Reckon.

If you right-click in the Chart of Accounts, you can Customise Columns. Here you can opt to display (“Add”) the Balance Total as well as Balance which will show the balance of every account in your list ☺️
