Problem restoring from floppy disks
Hi everyone,
I am trying to restore and access some old Quicken/Reckon data for a friend. He cannot remember the year and version of the Quicken/Reckon he used in the 1990s and early 2000s. His old computer with floppy drive is long gone.
I was given 2 floppy disks.
Disk 1 contains 1 file.
"QDATA1.QB1" created on 24 May 2005, modified on 20 June 2010.
Disk 2 contains 2 files.
"Q3.DIR" created on 25 September 2005, modified on 20 June 2010.
"QDATA1.QB2" created on 25 September 2005, modified on 20 June 2010
I can use the US version of Quicken 1999 basic and Quicken 2000 deluxe to restore the backup files on these 2 disks into a "QDATA1.QDF". However, I cannot open the restored file with them. DATA_LOG.TXT shows "QDF: No error".
I downloaded and installed Reckon Personal Plus 2004 from Reckon website. It cannot open the restored "QDATA1.QDF" file either, but at least DATA_LOG.TXT shows:
QDF:
Damaged data block
Cannot attempt data-specific validation.
Your file is from an earlier version of Quicken
The Reckon Personal Plus 2004 is the earliest one I can find on Reckon website. Does anyone have an earlier version (equivalent to US Quicken 1999 or 2000) for me to try to access the old restored data? Thank you very much!

The Reckon site has a section where software can be downloaded.
If you have a QDF file along with the supplemenary files, you can send it to us for analysis to confirm whether it can be opened.
