Why can't Reckon Accounts Count?

Using Reckon Accounts Premier Edition 2023. In the Payroll Centre I try to sort my employees by employee number, but Reckon insists on listing them as:

1

15

25

3

40

What sort of Accounting software can't list items numerically?

I feel like I'm still using software from 2003. This program is so Clunky and ugly. Can't wait to move to something else.

    Hi Robert

    Add 0s to the number format - eg “01” & “03” - & that should resolve it ☺️

I've already thought of that, and I'm greeted with an error regarding YTD figures for STP, stating there will be an impact and are you sure you want to proceed.

I do not wish to proceed as who knows what the impact will be? It will probably create a new YTD for the new employee number and that is a stuff around I'd rather avoid.

It's quite clear that 3 comes before 15 and an accounting program should be able to distinguish this.

Apologies … I’m not involved with the base coding of the program & it’s likely a fixed thing that Reckon has inherited from Intuit’s original QuickBooks version that unfortunately, the system can only read the format as it’s written 😬

The message is just a warning to prevent people allocating a completely new number but the number is still the same so it shouldn’t be a problem as I’ve done this for other clients with no issues ☺️
