How do I export time data into Excel so that it displays correctly

When I export time data to Excel, it does not show correctly in Excel despite the format for the cell being correct. The data shows left aligned and does not sum correctly. If you enter your cursor in the cell and hit Enter, it then displays correctly.

Hi @Con Sikalas,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, if you could please provide the detailed steps you take to export the time data I will attempt to replicate on my end. Thank you.
Cheers,
Lucas

The steps are:
- Run any report that includes time like a Time by Job Summary
- Use the Export option to a new workbook and save as Export.XLSX
- Download the above to my PC
- Open the downloaded file using Microsoft Excel
All of the time fields have a number format in Excel of h:mm but do not display that way until you place your cursor in the field and press Enter.

Hi @Con Sikalas,
I don't appear to be experiencing this issue within my test file. I do understand it can be frustrating having to click enter after placing your cursor on the cell instead of the formula automatically taking this into account.
I may recommend a reinstall of the software to check, if that will help with rectifying. Sorry about the inconvenience.

I am using Reckon Accounts Hosted so I am not sure a reinstall is an option.
Do you need me to send you an exported Excel file sample?

Hi @Con Sikalas,
Please privately message me the file and I will take a look for you. From my understanding, there should not be an issue with the formula generating the file. I'll try my best to help resolve this issue, but you may just need to keep clicking on the cell and hitting enter.

Hitting Enter is fine for a few rows or even a few dozen, but when there are hundreds?
How do I send you the file privately?

Hi @Con Sikalas,
I've sent you a private message you are able to reply to and send files through.

Hey @Con Sikalas
Can I just clarify, after you export your XLSX file from Reckon Accounts Hosted to Excel and open it, are you selecting the option to Enable Editing in the workbook?
Doing so will allow formulas and macros to generate in the Excel workbook. There's a bit more info on this in our article regarding the updated office integration functionality for Reckon Accounts Hosted HERE.

Hi Rav,
Yes, I have been selecting the Enable Editing option when I open the spreadsheet. The problem exists after this.
