ERROR CODE -6000,-83

Hi Community,

I updated Norton yesterday that has wreaked havoc with Reckon Hosted. I reached out to Tech support and the instructions they have sent me seem quite confusing. I have uninstalled Norton and it has't rectified the problem.

I am unable to login to my company file. I can login to Reckon Hosted.

Any assistance is much appreciated.

Thanks, Julie

    Dear @Julie C ,

You may need to re-name your Reckon Accounts Hosted company file.

Rarely, during upgrade or sharing, a user that was inside of the file (or a stuck Hosted session) can cause this error to appear.

    To correct this:

    1. Go to File.
    2. Select Open or Restore.
    3. Select Open a Company File (.QBW).
    4. Navigate to your company file. Do not open it yet.
    5. Right-click on the name of the file to highlight the file.
    6. Press F2 on your keyboard. This will bring up the Rename prompt.
    7. Rename your file by a single character (eg. MyCompany.QBW → MyCompany1.QBW).
    8. Once you've done this, open your company file.

If you're still receiving Error -6000 -83, let me know.

    Hi Alexander,

I'm using a Mac, the F2 isn't allowing a rename, only adjusting the screen brightness

    Dear @Julie C ,

Since you are on a Mac, please try the following:

    Control + U

This should replicate the F2 key for Windows.

    Dear @Julie C ,

    Very strange.

Can you try Fn + F2 and see if it brings up the ability to rename the file?

    Kind regards,
