Uniform Deductions
Hi,
Just wondering what the tax tracking type for Uniform Deductions should be? The employee currently pays back 25% of the cost for uniforms as a deduction from their pay, but the only tax tracking code I can see to allocate is Deductions (union fees). Is there something else to use instead?

Dear @AdrianaM ,
As I am not an accountant or bookkeeper, I can only generally advise on these topics.
As such, you may want to reach out to a Professional or Accredited Partner here: - Professional Partners and Accredited Partners are tax agents or accountants who can give more insight into the process.
From what I understand per the ATO's guidelines seen here: https://www.ato.gov.au/businesses-and-organisations/hiring-and-paying-your-workers/single-touch-payroll/in-detail/single-touch-payroll-phase-2-employer-reporting-guidelines/other-components-of-your-stp-reporting
The reporting of deductions does not change under STP Phase 2.
As such, whatever tax tracking type you used in Phase 1 is what you should use now.
Of course, you should check with your accountant or bookkeeper first, as this is purely from what the ATO has instructed.

Hi @AdrianaM
There’s not a designated STP allocation code for this. It’s just a net deduction & therefore the employee can claim this amount in their tax return ☺️
