Morning, every fortnight I import an IIf file from Hero Pay (payroll journal) and for some unknown reason the pay this fortnight, when I import it I get the Reckon popup saying the file is imported but no evidence of the payroll journal in the accounts. Any suggestions

    Hi @BeefAustralia

Have there been any changes to the IIF formatting or data fields since the last successful import?

Is this the first time you're importing the IIF into Reckon Accounts Hosted 2024 or have you been able to successfully import after upgrading to the 2024 edition?

    Hi Rav

I am using Hosted 2024, the payroll is the same every fortnight, I have opened the IIF for this pay and compared it against the IIF for the previous pay and can see no changes other than amounts

    Ok, thanks for that.

Would you be open to sending through the IIF file that you're trying to import so we can try and test it on our end?

If so, let me know and I'll set up a secure file transfer request and send it through to you. The file will only be used for testing purposes only.

Unfortunately because it is a payroll journal I will not be able to share it, I did try contacting Reckon who advised they do not support importing files in any format, was at bit surprised at this and there is absolutely no way of communicating with Employment Hero, they are uncontactable unless you pay for their above premium service

Hi there, is this a recent post as I seem to be having the same issues with an Employment Hero journal. My August journal is telling them they have uploaded to Reckon but no transactions are appearing in Reckon. The July Journals worked fine

    Hi Rav,

I use Roubler and import IFF files for a weekly pay run since 2021 and now since upgrading to the FY24/25 file it shows as Imported and doesn't show anywhere within Reckon. I'm happy to share the file if we can get this fixed…. Joy from Customer Service has all my contact details.

I have been a meeting with Roubler this morning comparing old and new iff files and they are exactly the same

I need this fixed asap as I'm unable to reconcile the bank without these entries

    Thanks Selena

    Hi Ellen 😀

When did you Upgrade to FY24/25 within Reckon? Because I only did it late last week and now this week it all looks like it's working with the "Your data has been Imported" Button but then nothing makes me wonder where it's going?

I asked Customer Service and their response was lacking in helpfulness:

    Thank you for contacting Reckon.

Please note that Reckon Technical Support team does not support importing of transactions in any format. Customers have to either do it themselves or seek professional advise on this. There is a Help section in Reckon Accounts which gives you the guideline of importing transactions. You can try and follow that yourself and see how it goes. To explore to the process of importing transactions, please open your company file. Go to Help > Reckon Accounts Help . In the search Text field, please type "Import". Below you will see various options for import. Click on it and check the process for import. This is for your self-assistance. Strongly suggest you to take a backup of your company file before you attempt this process.

Alternatively, you may also contact Professional Partners who are trained in Reckon applications and check with them if they can do the import of transactions. Professional Partners work in their individual capacity and are not a part of Reckon Technical Support. Here is the link , in case you want to touch base with them ->

Apart from this, we do have add-on Reckon Market Place. Here, you will get to see private vendors who have various add-on applications for integration purpose. You may check with these vendors if something to facilitate transaction import is available with them. Here is the link for add-on Market place -> .  Appreciate your understanding in this.

if you wanted to move ahead with the bank rec you could enter a temporary cheque for the total of the payroll and then delete when you get it sorted. All you would then have to do is tick the payroll journal in the bank register

    Thanks Kris - great idea,

I'm hoping Rav reachs out - I'll send him my own personal payroll iff file so no breaches of info… Anything to get it sorted 😉

    Thanks Selena

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the additional reports on this.

Just to add some context around support with IIF's, yes the team are limited in what they can assist with around IIF's which is why you've likely received the above responses. The tech team can assist with general guidance and troubleshooting, however their ability to provide detailed support for IIF file import issues is outside their scope and expertise. This is primarily because IIF files involve specific formats and customizations that can vary widely, and detailed troubleshooting might require in-depth knowledge of these files.

With that said, we'd like to try and test some of these files on our end to see if there is anything glaring that may be causing the import to not come through as it was previously.

@NORDIGA1 and @ellenofarrell can I just confirm, have you been able to successfully import your IIF files after upgrading to Reckon Accounts Hosted 2024? Or did it stop immediately after your upgrade?

@NORDIGA1 thanks for your offer to send through your file. I've just sent through a secure file transfer request. It'll come through separately as an email with instructions on how to send through your file. Cheers!

I feel like the error has come after the upgrade but I could be wrong! my journals are over 100 lines long so I'd be happy to send one through too for checking as i don't want to upload manually

    Hi Rav,

    Files sent.

I have had no problems with IFF Roubler Files Uploading through Reckon since 2021. I upgraded to FY24/25 last week after I had imported payroll for the week. Then this week neither files are appearing after uploading i get the pop up box "Your data has been Imported" Button click ok but when I look none of the info is showing in the Chart of Accounts and not showing within the bank as a transaction

    Hope this makes sense

    Thanks

    Selena

I downloaded some old IFF payroll files this morning that worked prior to Upgrade while looking into the issue with Roubler.

Let me know if you'd like copies of them also Rav to compare if needed

Thanks so much for sending through your file Selena, really appreciate it.

Ok, this info is for you and also @ellenofarrell & @BeefAustralia

    • Create a copy of your IIF file then open that copy.
    • Scroll right to the very bottom line where you'll see !ENDTRNS (screenshot example below).
    • Remove the ! from !ENDTRNS so it only reads as ENDTRNS
    • Save the file
    • Import it as you normally would into Reckon Accounts Hosted

Hopefully that gets your file imported but I'd be very keen to hear how you get on.

    Cheers!

Rav, it worked. OMG thank you so so much, I have lost more than a day's work trying to figure this out. You have no idea how much I appreciate the advice. Has this recently changed in Reckon as I'm sure all my other journals had the !

NORDIGA1 Member Posts: 9 Novice Member Novice Member

Thank you! I had to log back in as Admin to check.

I'll let Roubler know and see if they can remove the ! for the future

    Thanks Again

But Ellen is right the ! has always been accepted in the past

Actually Scrap that last statement - I got an old file out of the recycle bin and no ! but everyone I download from within Roubler now has it.

    Thanks everybody - Happy Friday

Awesome, glad it has worked for you both!

Also, thanks for checking your previous files in regard to the ! symbol @NORDIGA1.

@ellenofarrell I've just checked in with our product dev team and they've confirmed there haven't been any changes on our side with the 2024 release when it comes to IIF importing.
Can I just double check, are you 100% sure that a previous IIF that previously did import successfully carried the ! character on the last line?

@Rav I found a previous file in my records and it did not have the !

When I download any journal files now from the payroll solution all journal files have the !

I have sent the details off to them including one of their old journal files

    !

Normally the first three rows of a Transaction IIF import file (Such as for a Journal) would contain the HEADER BLOCK which the subsequent rows must follow.

The "!" exclamation character indicates that the row represents a header block.

The rows that represent an individual transaction, would have a row type indicator TRNS, SPL and ENDTRNS that would not have the "!" exclamation character.

If the IIF file you have generated from a 3rd party product has rows that do not follow that structure, it would result in errors or unexpected behaviour.
