Continue using Gmail when Google "Less secured app" is removed

I am using Reckon Accounts Plus 24 and I can send invoices from my Gmail account. I have your report on this topic, but I don't have the option of "App passwords" in the Security section so I can't generate the 16 digit password.

    Hi @MichaelK

Is your Google account using Google Workspace or Google Cloud Identity services by any chance?

    Hi @MichaelK,

I found this information in Google help center. Our Dev Team would need to update Reckon Accounts email functionality related to Gmail to make use of that OAuth.

A workaround at this stage may be to make use of an installed email client, in which the Google account is added and configured to use IMAP with OAuth.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Thanks for confirming that @MichaelK

Ok, when you're in your Google Account settings, if you type in App Passwords in the search bar at the top, does the option appear in the results for you to select from?

Yes it does. I called the app name Reckon and it generated the 16 digit password.

Ok excellent, thanks for letting us know. It looks like Google may have made changes to the layout/options that appear on the Security page so we'll update our help article to reflect that.

Just to confirm, are your emails sent from Reckon Accounts now working correctly using the App Password you've generated?

No the message reads the email service you selected to use currently cannot be reached. Ensure you are connected to the internet and contact email provider if problem persists.

I've just tested out sending out an invoice from Reckon Accounts using Gmail with the app password method and its worked successfully.

Ensure that you enter the full app password generated by Google into Reckon Accounts when the password prompt appears.

⚠️ Do not enter the password for your Google account itself.

I have definitely entered the whole password, and have not used the Gmail account password.
