Reckon Accounts Plus 2024 - Desktop - Memo Field on Statement can't be configured

I used to be able to select to have the memo field show on the statement. The update to ver2024 seems to have removed nearly all configuration options for the statement and the memo field no longer shows. 2024 is meant to allow this configuration plus lots of others - what's happened? We need to show the memo field again

Hmm … That's a bit strange 🤔🤔🤔
The ability to show or not show the Memo on Statements is is a new option that was introduced in the 2024 version, however it is disabled by default so you would normally just need to enable it in that Statement window.
@Rav … Any idea why this option is now missing for @Tuntable ? 😖

Hi @Tuntable,
Thank you for reaching out with your question.
Based on the screenshot you provided, it appears that you are using Reckon Accounts Plus 2024. Unfortunately, the memo feature is only available to the Reckon Premier and higher editions.
For further clarification you can also refer to the KB article below:
I hope this clarifies your query. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to reach out!!
Kind regards,

Hi guys
With the release of Reckon Accounts 2024 this year, the ability to prevent the Memo field printing on statements was introduced. With the release the functionality is disabled however the ability to switch it on is only available on Reckon Accounts Premier and up versions.
Our product team have got a ticket open to re-incorporate this functionality into the Reckon Accounts Plus and Reckon Accounts Accounting desktop editions.
For transparency, this will likely come through in conjunction with the next wave of feature enhancements, bug fixes and other improvements that are currently being built out then tested for the next release of Reckon Accounts next year.

@Rav Thank you for your clear reply and information. So, you are saying that functionality that we used to have in Reckon Accounts Plus 2023 has been removed in Ver2024, but will be put back in Ver2025? This sounds like a situation where Reckon has made a mistake that will affect out business clients very much. I'd like to ask that Reckon upgrade our licence for one year at no charge so that we can continue with the functionality we used to have, still need and will be given again next year. Can you please advise how this can happen for us? Thanks.

Hi @Tuntable
I'm not saying its a mistake because to be honest, I don't know if that's the case. Historically, we received a lot feedback both here on the Community and our Ideas Portal from users that they don't want the content in the memo field to appear in the printed statement.
Obviously that doesn't fit everyone's requirements though so the team will look to reincorporate this ability in all versions of Reckon Accounts Desktop with the Plus and Accounting versions next year. I can fully appreciate that is frustrating though, and I do apologise for that.
I can't comment around your request for a free subscription as that's not something I'm across, or can do for that matter. However something to keep in mind is, if you were to upgrade your company file to a higher version of Reckon Accounts eg. Premier for example, then the file can't then be reopened again in a lower version at a later stage.

@Rab Thank you again for your on-point reply and helpful information. The removal of a feature that's been in the Plus version for decades is not at all what suits my organisation and is a major issue, especially since there isn't anything we can do about it, but I thank you for your support.
One more question - can you advise if I can go back to ver2023?

Hi @Tuntable
The fastest option to resolve this issue is:
- Download a Reckon Accounts Premier 2024 Trial version installer
- Install it on a different computer to the one you have Reckon Accounts Plus 2024
- Take a copy of your file to the computer that has the Reckon Accounts Premier 2024 Trial installed
- Open your data file using the Reckon Accounts Premier 2024 Trial software
- Go to the Preferences and update it so that the Memo field is enabled on Statements
Once the setting is enabled, take that file that has the updated preference setting back to your computer that has Reckon Accounts Plus 2024 installed

@Datarec If the file is upgraded to Premier, @Tuntable will no longer be able to open it again in Plus! 😳

Hi @Tuntable and @Acctd4 @Kris_Williams
There is no configuration file external to the QBW data file regarding data file specific preferences.
A data file that is in the Reckon Accounts Plus and Reckon Accounts Premier data files can be opened directly by either product without undergoing any upgrade/conversion.
A data file that is in the Reckon Accounts Plus format be opened directly by a Reckon Accounts Premier software without undergoing any upgrade/conversion and it can be re-opened again by the Reckon Accounts Plus software.
A data file that is in the Reckon Accounts Premier format be opened directly by a Reckon Accounts Plus software without undergoing any upgrade/conversion and it can be re-opened again by the Reckon Accounts Premier software.
A Reckon Accounts Accounting data file that is opened in Reckon Accounts Plus, Reckon Accounts Premier or Reckon Accounts Enterprise / Reckon Accounts software goes through an upgrade that prevents it from being able to be readily opened again by the Reckon Accounts Accounting product.
A Reckon Accounts Plus data file that is opened in Reckon Accounts Enterprise / Reckon Accounts Hosted software goes through an upgrade that prevents it from being able to be readily opened again by the Reckon Accounts Plus product.
A Reckon Accounts Premier data file that is opened in Reckon Accounts Enterprise / Reckon Accounts Hosted software goes through an upgrade that prevents it from being able to be readily opened again by the Reckon Accounts Premier product.
A Reckon Accounts Enterprise data file cannot be opened by a Reckon Accounts Plus, Reckon Accounts Premier software.

@Datarec - apologies, I will need assistance to download the trial version of Premier. I've used this page:
and filled out all of the form for Premier, but clicking the download button appears to do nothing and then gives a 504 gateway timeout, see pic. Thanks

Hi @Tuntable
The issue may have been intermittent, or web browser related.
I've tested the website link and was able to successfully generate a Trial Key and download link.
I've sent you a direct message with the details.

@Datarec - this so called "fix" does not work.
This Reckon created problem needs to be fixed ASAP.
Data file opened in Premier Trial 2024 - option to include memo field in statement was available.
Returned data file to Accounts Plus 2024 - nothing changed - same as before.
Stop wasting paying customers time - get it fixed.

@blanko you are right it doesn't work, but I think @Datarec was sincere in their attempts to help with this. They tried to help in several other ways as well and gave excellent care and attention to this issue via DM. They are not responsible for Reckon's poor decisions and can't code fixes on the fly.
This standard option, that was dropped from Reckon Pro v2024, will apparently be put back in Pro v2025. We had to buy an upgrade to Reckon Premier v2024 to once again get access to the option that had been standard in Pro for literally decades when Reckon decided to remove it.imho version changes should be improvements and never remove standard features. What were they thinking?
Very annoying and totally avoidable.

@blanko refer to the response from @Tuntable
The issue is scheduled to be resolved in the next release of the software.
When information is provided on the Community, it is not intended to 'waste paying customers time'.
In some cases, it requires additional investigation and found to not be as expected.
Instead of retroactively removing posts, they are kept as-is to provide context for the information or corrections that may follow.
Recommendations:
- Ensure that you keep a record of your data file Admin password and create regular backups with the complete verification option enabled.
- The creation and documentation of data file password as well as the creation of backups is the responsibility of the data file owner.
