Hi
I am planning some extended travel next year but will need to have continued access to Hosted during this period.
Has anybody had any experience with this?
A key concern is receiving the SMS for MFA purposes?
thanks

    Hi @Bruce

In regard to MFA, are you taking along (and will have access to) your current AU mobile number while overseas? If so, you'll still receive SMS with your MFA codes.

Alternatively, I'd recommend switching over from SMS to using an authenticator app for MFA instead such as Google Authenticator. This way, you'd have access to MFA codes on your phone immediately without any need for SMS.

Have you used an authenticator app before?

    Hi @Bruce

There are a couple of options you could look at in regard to access while you're away.

    • You can have Data Roaming enabled for your Mobile, and it will allow SMS.
    • You can temporarily switch from using SMS as your MFA method and instead switch over to using an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator for your MFA codes.

I hope this helps. Thank you!

    Regards

    Tanvi

    Thanks @Rav and @Tanvi_kataria

Looks like I'll be ok as I will have my Australian phone with me

@Rav in relation to your comment about Authenticators I have only used product specific authenticators in the past, rather than a generic authenticator such as those provided by Google or Microsoft. Have you asked this question because you are recommending authenticators over SMS or was it just a general comment?

More just a general comment @Bruce.

Was just raising it as an authenticator app will work regardless of your location and/or mobile provider, you just need an internet connection 🙂
