After 4 years, looking to ditch Reckon Accounts Personal Plus V31

Hi all, I have been using Reckon Accounts Personal Plus V31 for over 4 years. It works well for me. I recently upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. I downloaded new software and then couldn't restore my previous data file for some reason. To say I was pissed is an understatement. So I started a new cashflow file. All was working OK for a few weeks and today the software upon opening has asked me to specify where my data is. How frustrating. So I point to the data and my cashflow appears, but when I try to back it up, it either does not back up or it says it has done so successfully. When I reopen, I am back to a message telling to point to my data again. F%% me. I also have encountered Error Code 7015. What is the universe telling me? I backed up my data to different places to see if it's a location issue - all the same issues are still present when doing so.

Anyone have any clues? Failing that, do I need to upgrade to a different Reckon product that will solve these new issues I am having? Also is this a Windows 11 issue? It seems that way as when I was running Windows 10, I had a magical carpet ride experience of no issues.

    Hi @David Szabo

    When you say the software is asking you to point to your data, what exactly is the message that appears?

    Can you post a screenshot of that message please.

    Also, is your file name 8 characters or less? While the below help guide is in relation to Error Code 7025 rather than 7015 I believe the principle of it is the same and I'd recommend that you review the information and steps outlined in here - https://help.reckon.com/article/rv8z2rvvic-kba-5232-error-7025-when-backing-up-ra-personal-file

    Thanks guys. Thanks so much for responding to my post. Was feeling so deflated this morning. So took a deep breath. Read your Tip Tuesday Gerry (thanks sincerely for this!!!!!) and placed backup of my files in the root drive of my PC and changed the file name to 7 characters. So far, all good, the back-up proceeds and when I restart the software, it automatically opens my cashflow. Gerry, have placed your contact details in my address book. If I need expert intervention, I will call you. I am so thankful for your tips and your efforts in this community.

    Hello Gerry, having read the threads above, I have been advised that my current laptop and Windows 10 will go obsolete in October, and that I need to get Windows 11 pc. Please advise if my Reckon Personal Home software will work on a new pc. Thanks in advance. regards Suzanne

    In my opinion, all community blogs about issues encountered by users/potential users should always aim to result in a successful conclusion for all concerned. But, also, the community should also be educated about the issues and how they have been solved.

    With respect, @GerryWinter , it's great that you can solve people's issues from time to time with direct contact and online intervention. But, it would be even better that the community then reads about what you've done to help, thereby potentially avoiding a lot of future enquiries about the same problems.

    Can Personal Plus 2015 be run from OneDrive? I appear to be having issue doing this. The purpose of doing this was so that I had access to my Reckon Personal Plus from home and the office. I was wondering if the latest version of Reckon Personal Plus is better suited to this type of setup, that is, using OneDrive. I wanted to have a centralised data base but operate from two devices

    Personal Plus V31 still does not like One Drive using it can cause all sorts of problems.

    It's alright for storing backups just not working files.

    Thank you so much for your comment. I'll stop trying to make it work and just operate on my laptop if I want to move it around. In case the community was wandering what the issues were, when I used Reckon from my home computer it created a QDF Data file called QDATA 20130502 20221117. Then when I opened this on my work computer it created a new QDF data file QDATA 20130502 20221117-Elio-HPProDesk1., Then the next time I opened the file on my work computer it created a third QDF data file QDF data file QDATA 20130502 20221117-Elio-HPProDesk1-Elio-HPProDesk1. I thought the work around was to just open Reckon by clicking on the latest data file and the upshot of that is I lost all the attachments I had associated with the file. Became very messy so was hoping that perhaps the latest Reckon Personal Plus was more forgiving.

    In any case, thank you for your help Gerry and will stick to the original plan of only one computer running the program
