Inventory for custom builds

Good day,
Hope someone can help, we currently buy raw material that gets cut either smaller or modified to create other parts and powdercoated. These various parts then get used to create product that gets installed at customers, but problem is it is not always exact same sizes. Currently our items is set-up as non-inventory items that goes straight to COGS and we then just do stocktake every quarter and journal to Inventory account. We now want to have the raw material go straight to inventory so we can track when we need to reorder and keep track of total amount used per job. Our clients is on progress payments 10/40/40/10% so not sure how to go about setting all this up.

Hi @AmandaVan
You would need to use Inventory Items (rather than Non-Inventory) & allocate the base UOM & related UOMs that apply, in order to properly track the quantities on hand 😊
