Give accountant access to my Reckon Hosted file

Hi All,
Could someone please point me in the right direction to give my accountant access to my file in Reckon Hosted? They will need to be able to do journals so it can't be read only.
Thank you,
Suzanne

the accountant should have their own Reckon license and if so you can share your file with him, but if he hasn’t he can login using your login details but you will have to give him the code to do this and you can’t use it at the same time. I have never allowed accountants access to my file I prefer them to give me a list of journals and I do them myself, but I am familiar with the process and I understood you may not be.

Just adding to the info above, we've got a guide on how to share your company file here - #TipTuesday: How to Share and Unshare Company Files

I always get them to use my login details as they have to ring me to obtain the code. Then I know when they have been into my account. Like Kris mentioned, I like to do the Journals myself also, then I understand what changes they are making. The journals aren't hard to do, just time consuming!

Why hasnt the accountant got his own copy of hosted?
I wouldnt be giving my password over like that.

I never give accountants access either! If they absolutely insist, they get view-access only, purely because most don't understand the software & how it works (& in many case, not just the software but even "bookkeeping" in general !)
I prefer to have the original transactions correct, rather than journaling, as GJs aren't very explanatory & can be confusing to identify. RA/RAH is designed for recording transactions via "forms" eg invoices, bills etc (with the applicable GJ created automatically as a result, behind-the-scenes) as it was intended to be easy to use/understand for those with little to no accounting knowledge.
Accountants on the other hand, LOVE posting GJs … especially to header &/or reconciled bank/payroll/liability accounts, which causes a lot of issues ! 🙄🤦
If you are an experienced user & understand accounting, my advice would always be for the accountant to tell you what they want (& why!) so if applicable, you can make the entries … correctly 😁

Thank you all for your valuable feedback. I take that onboard and will do the journals myself under their instruction. Read only access if fine, but good idea to not have anyone else recording transactions in our file.
