Payment summary & empdupe for entity registered with WPN

Hello,

Can someone provide insight as to how an entity registered with a WPN is supposed to issue a payment summary to an employee, and upload payment details to ATO? With the new update to 2025 I can no longer do this and WPN's are exempt from STP until 2033. It seems impossible, which is not workable at all.

    Hi there @JuliaSanders

Is there a particular reason why you're looking to start STP submissions for a WPN now during its exemption period?

In terms of payment summaries, they have been obsolete for a good while now and more importantly, with the introduction of STP Phase 2 in 2023, they didn't show correct information with the disaggregation of gross.

    Hi Rav,

We aren't looking to move to STP during the exemption period. That's why there's a problem.

We don't have a way to report earnings to the employee without the payment summary function being available, and we can't report to the ATO without an empdupe. Compliance is now impossible.

We haven't had any issues with past processes and STP requirements around disaggregation didn't apply as we have a WPN, which is exempt.

How are we supposed to move forward, what accommodation does Reckon have for a WPN entity to provide year end earnings information to employees and remain ATO compliant?

    Hi Julia

Have you contacted the ATO to determine if they have an option available for you to cater for you in your particular circumstances?

    Hi John,

No I haven't. They haven't changed anything at their end as the file transfer function is still available in the ATO portal. Given the time usually required to speak to someone at the ATO at this time of year I haven't gone down that road. I expect I'll spend a bunch of time on the phone for them to tell me they need an empdupe file, which has always been the way to process & lodge for a WPN. Its looking like reverting to the stone age and handwriting payment summaries and the annual report to submit a paper lodgement.

Seems pretty ridiculous that Reckon would remove a function that, although the vast majority won't use, some will. And for another 8 years.

    Hi @JuliaSanders

You can still complete the old hard-copy payment summary form manually & send that in to the ATO :
