'Remember Me' changes to Reckon Accounts Hosted login

Hi everyone

Just wanted to give you a heads up on some changes that we've had to implement to Reckon Accounts Hosted's login screen, specifically to the Remember Me feature.

To meet the ATO's security framework requirements, the Remember Me option will now only save your Reckon Accounts Hosted user name and will expire after 24 hours. It will no longer save your password.

What do I need to do?

If you previously relied on the Remember Me option to save your login credentials, please be aware that it will now only remember your user name once every 24 hours and you will need to enter your password each time you login.

After 24 hours has lapsed since your last login, you will need to enter both your user name and password upon your next login.

Note: If you use a password manager or save your login credentials using your browser that will continue to work as it normally does.

Viewing passwords

We've added an enhancement to the password field which now allows you to view the password field as you're entering your password. Simply click on the 👁️ icon in the password field to view the password.

If you're not sure of your Reckon Accounts Hosted login password please use the Forgotten Password option on the login screen and follow the prompts to reset your password.

im not sure this is working the way described. if i close Reckon or Reckon shuts down due to inactivity when i try to open it will ask me for my password. I've probably had to access Reckon 2-3 times today and its asked for the password each time. it seems odd that passwords in a password manager (that im not really a fan of btw) can be remembered but not passwords direct . I can see people (that dont use password managers ie me) that are in an out of reckon every day getting cranky. I can live with sign off refresh every 24 hours…..Have i missed the point…

From what you've described, the changes outlined above are working 'correctly' in terms of the new requirements.

Just to reconfirm, using the Remember Me option will now save your user name only for a span of 24 hours. Passwords will no longer be saved at all.

I completely understand your point around being in and out of Hosted multiple times throughout the course of the day. Having to input your password each time is certainly going to be an adjustment and I do apologise for that, unfortunately we've been required to make these changes to meet compliance requirements.

Just to be clear, these changes are not just Reckon making life difficult for users 🤗

Unfortunately, there are very strict ongoing, extensive govt & legislative requirements around privacy & security that all software providers have to implement & adhere to, in order to be deemed "compliant" 😖

Thanks Shaz….no issue with why it is required and to be honest ive moved on …as from recent comms i have to just live with it…i was curious to understand why a password is remembered by Reckon when saved to a password manager…isnt it that the same ? Also ive remembered my sign on to my online bank accounts and i don have to sign in each time i access them..Doesn't his not apply to banks.. anyway maybe im just over thinking stuff …as i do….thnks again Shaz

Yeah, I use password managers too.

I'm guessing they're not Australian though so the govt probably doesn't have any control over their particular security protocols ! 😬

Can't say that this makes any difference to me, it's no different to logging onto the bank multiple times a day any having to enter your details every time.

What is annoying is Reckon dropping out constantly while using it, then having to log back in. This is a problem that seems to be getting worse.
