I recently installed Reckon Accounts Personal Plus v31 and recovered my backup file successfully to commence using the new version.
Perhaps it should be noted that I’ve been using Quicken/Reckon Personal for over 30 years without any issues, but it does mean that my main file is huge (24MB in the .QDF file)
After opening the backed-up file I found the account balances for all my accounts seemed to be correct, but when I actually opened an account all the transactions for the past 6 years had gone missing. Strangely I saw hundreds of blank transaction rows as I scrolled up until I eventually finding a transaction from back in 2019. When I closed the account the balance showing in the menu was the balance from 6 years ago!
Trying another tack, I opened an investment account from the Portfolio view and voila! the missing transactions were all there, but the balance now disagreed with the Account Balances.
I was terrified to go any further and risk the transactions now showing in the investment account getting wiped. But as I was writing this post as a help question, a miracle occurred and suddenly all the transactions are back.
So the answer appears to have been to just wait. RAPP will eventually drag the transaction out of wherever they are, but it shows partial/erroneous data in the meantime.
Is my theory right? What do we think?
