Reckon Accounts Hosted to Reckon One

Hi, I have just changed from Reckon Accounts Hosted to Reckon One, I don't like it and was told I can change back, but when I asked to change back, I was told I can't change back because it is being phased out, does anyone know if this is true or not?

Hi Kris_Williams, that's what we were told and I feel like retiring myself now, it is the worst program I have ever used, I need My Reckon Accounts Hosted back, we are actually looking at other options like MYOB now, it has thrown our whole office into chaos and we are all stressed out using

Thanks for sharing this and while I'm glad to hear you've made the switch over to Reckon One, I'd love to get a bit more info from you to see if we can make it a more positive transition.

Just to clarify, Reckon Accounts Hosted isn't going anywhere in the immediate future, so there’s no need to be concerned that the product is suddenly being switched off or unsupported in the near term.

With that said, Reckon One is our future. As we continue investing in our platforms, our focus is increasingly on Reckon One as our modern, cloud-based solution, and over time it will become the main platform we offer and support.

Reckon Accounts is a powerhouse accounting solution and has been for many years and has a very loyal customer base. At the same time, its also a mature product, its underlying technology and codebase can also limit how quickly we can introduce new features and improvements if at all.

Reckon One has been built on a modern platform, which gives us much more flexibility to continue developing it well into the future, iterate on the experience and deliver new capabilities for our customers.

Having said all of that, we absolutely want to hear from customers who have moved across and aren't enjoying the experience. You mentioned that you don't like Reckon One, if you're happy to share, we'd really like to understand why.

Is there something you could previously do in Reckon Accounts that you're struggling to do in Reckon One? Is it the way a particular feature works, the interface, workflow, or something else?

If you can let me know what's not working for you, I'm happy to take a look and see if there's a better way to achieve what you need in Reckon One, or pass the feedback on to our teams.

@Lesley I think we all understand that learning a new product is difficult especially for some of the more mature existing users of hosted, did they say that they will take you back or not,

Hi Rav, firstly just a bit about myself, I started this steel fabrication workshop in 1989 and not long after that started with Quicken, so have been using your products for well over 30 years, not a novice in using them and have never once thought of changing until now.

The issues we have is just about with everything, Reckon One is certainly not user friendly.

We have been using Reckon One for Payroll for a while now and we like that.

I have listed below the issues that are causing us stress:

We can't send remittances from Reckon One
We can't send bulk payments / receipts
We can't look at one customer and see all their quote, invoices and payments on the one screen at the same time - we were told by Reckon One that we can't see the quotes on the same screen as they aren't transactions
We can't convert quotes to invoices
We can't convert quotes to 40% deposit invoices and then convert the balance of the quote to an invoice - we have to work it out manually
In the items - there isn't a search feature that you can type in what you are looking for
In the items you have to flick through the pages and hope that you get the right letter on the page you are looking at
Items / customers haven't copied over correctly - incorrect prices have come over and we have to keep going back to Reckon Hosted to check all the prices as we do up the invoices
when reconciling, you have to tick off bulk payments (ie EOM payments and wages) individually
Invoice numbers / quote numbers are all changed / different and so we have to keep looking back into Reckon Accounts Hosted
Unpaid bills report and unpaid invoices reports are labor intensive to get into a pleasing format

This is all I can think of at the moment.

After 30+ years with Reckon products, you certainly aren't coming at this as a novice, and I can completely understand how transitioning to a new solution is quite an adjustment particularly when you've been using Reckon Accounts for so long and have a well-established way of working.

There are a few things you've mentioned that I'd like to look into further with you.

Some of the functionality you've listed is actually available in Reckon One, so it sounds like there may be some gaps in the information or guidance you've received along the way. For example, estimates can be converted to invoices in Reckon One, and you can send remittance advices to suppliers.

Some other points sound like they could be related to how the data has migrated from Reckon Accounts Hosted and others are areas for further development in Reckon One.

On that note, I'd like to arrange for one of our migration specialists to have a conversation with you. They can go through these points with you, demonstrate what can be done in Reckon One, and also investigate anything that hasn't migrated across as expected.

I'm hoping that we can get you on the right track and take some of the stress out of the transition. If there are things that Reckon One genuinely doesn't currently do in the way you've been accustomed to working, we'd like to hear about those too.

hi Rav, thank you for the detailed explanation below. However, what the powers that be don’t understand is that most of we Accounts users (I presume) Would prefer the current version of Reckon Accounts to continue even if it never had any upgrades or “IMPROVEMENTS”.

I know the base platform is antiquated but it works great as is now that super stream, stp and payday super have been sorted.

Can’t the idea of an old version needing little upgrade be considered?

Hi Rav, we just don't like the new format or anything else about it, would really prefer to go back to the Reckon Accounts Hosted and I just can't see why we had to pay to have the Quotes added to Reckon One costing us $380.00.

I've shared this before so take it for what you will. I had the complete opposite experience, was on Reckon Accounts and then Hosted for years like you Lesley and moved to Reckon One earlier this year and have not looked back once.

I'm not trying to diminish your experience, but based on some of the comments of it not being able to do some features when it can and just "not liking it" suggests you haven't given it a chance. And to be fair, I felt the same way when we moved over but I gave it a chance and worked into it rather than trying to view it using my Reckon Accounts-tinted glasses that I had worn for so many years.

Yes, there are some things it doesn't do that Hosted can, but for the vast majority of things I use like invoices, quotes and payroll it works a treat and is far quicker than Hosted.

Maybe give it an actual go and see if you feel the same way. Again, just my 2c worth.

We have now gone back to Reckon Accounts Hosted, we have had to data entry everything for nearly 2 months because it can't be put back as we were told it could be, I am not impressed at all about the whole experience of this.
