closing date password issue

Is it possible to select what type of transaction that has a closing date set for it? - i want a password so that staff can't change transactions before the closing date that can impact on financials, ie, invoices, sales receipts, bills, etc. However after setting a closing date i want to be able to change an estimate, purchase order or sales order or items that don't alter financials so that my staff can do that without needing a password.
