Hi I found an answer to my question from 4 years ago so I am not sure if it's still applicable, so I am asking again. I am just wondering if there is a way to use Reckon Accounts Hosted offline. My internet is sometimes so slow it takes up to one minute to print an invoice. Any suggestions please?

You are entitled to a copy of Reckon Enterprise desktop, login to members area and you should see the download link, otherwise ring them. But remember you will have to download a backup and restore to PC and then restore to online before you use it online again

    Dear Tory,
If your Hosted license is current and being actively paid, then you are entitled to one free Reckon Accounts Enterprise license, which is effectively Reckon Accounts Hosted in an offline, downloadable software variant. To discuss this, please contact our Sales Team.
    Kind regards,
    Alex.

Gerry, are they? It's not a simple process at all to switch between your "offline" mode and the hosted environment? Of course you can do it? The better question, given the complexity of the task is this. Why would you? I've been using hosted since it was introduced. It solves a specific problem. Taking it offline ignores the problem altogether. You might as well use Desktop. If the internet speed is the problem, going off line doesn't help either.

I had no trouble downloading a backup and using offline when necessary, e.g. when internet problems make using it online painful, and then uploading a backup and resume online usage when things improve.

I also have clients that are on hosted and have only used the accompanying desktop version and will continue to until the the online version is more practicable for their need, primarily internet speed and final years end reporting. Each client has individual needs.

Between you and me the Enterprise attached to Hosted is cheaper than the desktop of Enterprise, but dont tell anybody.

Gerry between me, Enterprise really doesn't offer me any advantage over Premier.

It may not but they are then ready to move to the cloud when they are confident and as to your comment to Kris you must be living in paradise as most people i know hate the NBN, i love it.

Gerry as to your comment to me, I don't have the NBN. And I won't be. My current service is better than 90% of the country. Oh and Gerry internet speeds makes zero difference to the hosted experience as long as you have the minimum of 4mbps. You do know it's not a pure cloud service. It's built on client server technology from the 80s

I never have internet problems either, and I am on NBN, never had any with ADSL, but many people I know do, and some are in business and it makes a difference

A difference to what? I already told you internet speed is not an issue with Hosted. I have a HFC connection with Docsis. Maybe that's the difference. I have used Hosted on my mobile connection. I still don't have problems.

All I’m saying is that people who don’t run a business can survive when their internet plays up as it’s not so important. But at the end of the day if someone does have problems and prefers to use Hosted offline through Enterprise it’s not a big deal, and everyone has different needs and do whatever makes life easy

Clients of mine in country Victoria have fibre NBN which goes out at least once a day. We tried to use Hosted. They could not tolerate the outages. Went back to desktop. Even near where I live its very patchy. Five ks from here there is no ADSL. Have you tried using Hosted with Satellite internet?

I have never tried it on Satellite, I’ll investigate that next time I go to my friend’s down the South Coast as she has satellite. I have no problem with NBN or my mobile phone hotspot when I’m travelling

Thank you to everyone for their replies. We live in a remote area and my internet can slow to nothing and it's usually when I'm on hosted. I will be in touch to get enterprise and go from there. Thanks again!

Satellite NBN is not really suitable for Hosted because of the very slow latency. It's like the international phone calls with a second or two delay before the other party can speak again. With Hosted on NBN satellite there is a second or so delay between key strokes which is annoying. We had to put up an external antennae for mobile broadband to replace the NBN.
