Reporting to ATO

Quick question

i lodge a monthly stp and it’s reported and authorized by Ato once lodged do I still have to lodge activity statements via Ato business portal as well ...seems duplication to me ....ATO haven’t responded to my month long Enquiry ...


appreciate any advice

    Hi Steve

    At the moment, yes.  The auto prefill of Wages (W1) & PAYGW (W2) on Activity Statements from STP lodgements is currently being implemented by the ATO & will be rolled out gradually so some employers may have it available before others.

    STP Phase 2 will be coming in next year which will see some big changes in what gets reported (more Payroll Items & more granular breakdowns) & how (new/additional fields in Employee records)  This is a major task for the software companies - including Reckon - but is driven by the need for Services Australia (aka Centrelink) to also automatically receive this data for determining welfare payment entitlements.

    The currently proposed commencement date is 1st Jan 2022 but this may be extended to July.  As with the original  STP rollout, the software companies will be able to apply for extensions if necessary in order to ensure the new features are functioning & fully compliant.
