Is it possible to have several invoice templets setup with different number sequencing?

Kris is correct. Unfortunately, the auto invoice subsequent-numbering feature as a whole is auto-generating, rather than per template. The only workaround is to override the sequential number(s) but this could be fiddly to maintain & prone to some being inadvertently missed in error.

You cannot have different invoice templates with different number sequencing. No. Have you tried using different AR accounts?
