Q drive madness

Sorry I can't see how this q drive is an acceptable way of moving files around.

One of the users here, once a month, has to export a file as a excel

each month they need help. this is the way that they have to do it...

1 create report in reckon (no probs)

2 export to new workbook (again no probs)

3 the export to file box DOSEN'T automatically goto q drive but into the sub folder that the reckon image is in. this means that they can't find it again to download. so I have to show them where the q drive is again.

4 we finally get file saved

5 now we download it

6 now we can open it locally

It seems incredible that this is such a long process just to get an excel file. It also leaves the file on Q drive to get mixed up. The way of cleaning stuff out of the Q drive is so primitive I can't believe that it was approved for release

... don't get me started on the process of printing that now takes so many steps...

Can someone from Reckon please tell me what they are planning to do to improve this

    There is a simpler way

    1 create report in reckon

2 email report (in excel) to whoever is going to work on the report

My experience is that this works well for most reports - not 100% as once in a blue moon the exported file displays a value rather than a formula (but on the odd instance this occurs - it is highlighted)

PS Also, using this method means that you do not have to save the report in the Q Drive

Totally agree with Bruce, email excel report to self and work on it on local hard drive, easy peasy

Or download Reckon to your desktop and create the report there. Piece of pie

And how do I download Reckon to my desktop?

You are entitled, as a Hosted subscriber to download a copy of Reckon Enterprise to your computer, from there you can restore your backup to use on the computer. But if you make any changes you have to backup and restore that file to Hosted. Good for the purpose Zappy suggested though. Login to Reckon members site and click the link to download the copy of Enterprise that should be there, copy the installation key to use when installing

How would that affect the multi users we have. will it still "sync" with them on hosted service?

I have a downloaded version as a precaution only. Can’t remember when I last used it.

I use this approach for exactly the same issue you have alluded to, I don’t want to be uploading files and syncing back.

also sort of defeats the purpose of paying for a hosted service

Stephen G, no. Downloading to the desktop is only for specific applications which aren't catered very well for in the Hosted environment. Reporting and excel integration spring to mind. Hosted is great at what it does and not so good at other stuff

Stephen you also need to ring customer service to get the installation key for the Reckon Enterprise version. Call me if you need help. Ive been a Reckon Partner for twenty years.

    Thanks all

I will use the email to myself workaround for now.

I still think that it is a workaround and it really needs to be fixed
