How can I get Reckon to open the Sales Order to the template I have created. The system keeps opening the Reckon system template and I am unable to delete or inactivate the Reckon template.

Also when I select "create invoice" from the Sales Order screen it goes to the Reckon system template again, which I cannot inactivate. I have an invoice template which I use but the Sales Order to Invoice does not select my active template.

Help is appreciated

Which Reckon software are you using?

This discussion has been created under the Payroll Premier product category however this product doesn't do invoices, sales orders etc and is purely for payroll only.

We are using Reckon Premier. It's not a huge problem because we can select the template during the process, I just wanted it to automatically go to our template we use

If you have multiple Sales Order templates:

    1. Consider renaming the templates in alphabetical order or putting a number at the start of the template name to give them a sequential order and make the one that you want to be the default be the first one.
    2. Make any Sales Order template that you do not use, inactive

It is defaulting to the Reckon system templates both for the Sales Order and the cut over to an Invoice, which you cannot delete or rename.

When I open the Sales Order it defaults to the Reckon template which I change to our customised, but when I convert to invoice it also defaults to the Reckon system template. If I open invoice directly it shows our customised version so its only the Sales Order and transition to invoice thats causing the head ache,

The screen print shows my template at AAA Sales Order but the default is Sales Order with Rep

Do you use the Reckon system templates?

If not, then make them inactive.

Since the system templates cannot be renamed, then consider making all of the ones you do not use inactive (OR make all the system templates inactive).

You can always make a COPY of the system template as the basis for creating your own user-defined and customised templates which you can rename as needed.

I think I have fixed it so as our template is the default when I open Sales Order. Although I cannot make a Reckon template inactive or change or delete it, I did make a copy as per screen instruction below and made the copy inactive. Does not make much sense but it worked. I'll see what the Sales Order to Invoice happens.

Thanks so much for your input, strange how systems work sometimes but I appreciate your attention

As you’ve now determined …. To use a custom template, you need to copy (from Reckon’s default) or create, a custom one first, then you can rename/reorder them accordingly 😊

TIP: Once you have created & customised a template exactly how you want it, you can “Duplicate” that form’s layout for any other templates! Eg If you’ve created your own custom invoice template with logos etc, you can duplicate this for your Estimates, Sales Orders, Purchase Orders etc & just tweak them further accordingly 😊
