New Reckon User - Will opening a non live file through Accounts Hosted damage the original file?
Hi
I'm a new user to Reckon, and we have the desktop version. There was a backup file done and our bookkeeper wants a copy so she can open it through Reckon Accounts Hosted, and it is asking for it to be upgraded. Will this damage our working file? Or can she still use the backup offline as such, and we can still use our current working file?
Thanks

If she opens the file in hosted she can do whatever she likes. It won't change your desktop file. If she makes any changes you can make them in your copy mnaually. Why is she not using the desktop version? Doesn't she know how hosted works?

That's what I thought was the case, but I wanted to confirm with someone who knew more than I did.
She works over east so she said this was the only way she could access our file to make the changes, and I couldn't ask her as she's unavailable until next week.
Thanks for your help

Nonsense. She could install the desktop version, make the changes, zip it up and send it back. Or she could use one of the numerous remote desktop apps like Splashtop to get access to your file on your computer. There's other ways too. Sometimes I despair at the lack of technical skill of the accountants out there. It's quite dispiriting.
