Payroll Understanding

I am new to payroll and have absolutely little clue when it comes to understanding the holiday hours etc. I have a new employee who we have setup, but I am having trouble understanding the holiday hours. It is saying holidays available 152 but as she has only just started why does it say that she has 4 weeks? Is there a way you can get it to show how many actual hours are available (i.e 1 week every 3 months i calculate). Am I reading this incorrectly. Appreciate any help with this.

You should be accruing hours based on hours worked, not annually in advance. 0.076923 hours per hour. Call me and we will fix this

    Hi Karen

You have the Accrual Period set to Beginning of year. Change it to Every Hour (at the applicable rate) in order to accurately accrue leave based on hours worked.

Feel free to get in touch with me direct if you’d like some 1-on-1 customised training ☺️

I notice Karen that you have your hours shown as minutes in Settings. I found that very confusing and so always show mine as decimal. Just an observation and it may suit you as it is but just an alternative if you choose

Hi Shaz, What does at the applicable rate mean and where does that get entered?

@KarenT The applicable rate is the hours accrual per hour worked. This is determined based on the standard hours per week x number of weeks leave entitlement. You have 152 hours for the year entered there so I'm assuming your standard weekly hours is 38 (38 hours x 4 weeks = 152 hours)

For a 38-hr week, the Annual Leave accrual per hour is 0.07692 (0.07694 x 38 hrs p/wk x 52 wks p/yr = 152 hrs p/yr) Personal/Sick Leave accrual is usually half (2 wks) so the accrual for this one is 0.03847

NOTE: Due to rounding, when entered Reckon will automatically change these numbers to 0.07694 & 0.03833 respectively. This is fine as it is simply due to rounding.
