Did I read correctly that you can now attach a supplier’s invoice to the enter bills window? In PDF format?
Sort of @Kris_Williams .. You can attach a document link to the Bill transaction
Has anyone got clear instructions on how to add the link in bills? I've tried to follow instructions I did find but have been unsuccessful so far - but that could be my computer skills.
Is this what you are looking for?

Wayne Seabrook I am trying to figure out the same, as I know Xero has this feature and easy link and add a copy of the bill, but cannot find it in Reckon, did you solve this?
Did you find this at all Kris? I would love to do this
You can’t attach an actual PDF, but you can attach a link to the PDF that you store on Dropbox or a folder on your computer, or maybe even online storage elsewhere, I haven’t used this feature in Xero but use it daily on Quickbooks online
Reckon Accounts users now have the capability to attach links to external files, such as documents or images, to various lists and transactions in Reckon Accounts. These documents can be stored in cloud storage such as Dropbox, Onedrive, Google Drive etc, or your own network drive. The choice is yours.
Using Links instead of an actual attachment gives Reckon Accounts users the ability to:
Okay how do you attach the link then?
On the toolbar in the bill window there’s a box called link with a paper clip icon
Yes I tried that but it takes me no where, no idea how to link the PDF
Hi Barbara
The Reckon Help site has this & other resources 😊 :
Yes I agree Barbara I just tried it, very confusing. I’ll have a better look and try to answer your question
Thank Kris appreciate that, I too am looking through this document at the moment
I just found this, should be on the same place you are looking too
Oh dear that is horrid sorry to say, Xero is just so damn easy and Reckon is very difficult and I cannot see any fix. I will wait though in case I am missing something Kris :-)
But can you get it to work, just using a PDF link I don't use dropbox
Quickbooks online is a breeze too
Ah ha, just not Hosted, I also use Enterprises, so might check that out too, and loved Quickbooks but only have the old version unfortunately was advised by Reckon to go with Hosted.
You don’t have to use Dropbox, I’m still checking it out
Enterprise and Hosted are both the same, and process is just as impossible in both. You will have to wait until @Rav answers the question, or someone who knows the process. I have never used it
Hahaha, thank goodness it is just not me then. Thank you so much for trying though.
I have just read through all of the instructions and I have to say that I can see where the process is going, however I am quite experienced in computer techniques but I feel this is not a user friendly process for many of the people who use this forum, including me. I didn’t bother to follow it through as I was only trying to answer Barbara’s question and don’t have a use for it, and after seeing what it’s all about would not waste my time. Quickbooks online is a breeze, click attachment, browse, select and done, your PDF can be opened from any login on any computer
Barbara, no I didn't. I got busy and put it in the too hard basket for the time being.
I can understand I don't think Reckon do this well at all,
I think this is not good enough - appalling actually. If my customer enters a link to his bills on his computer, I won't be able to see this on my computer when I am working on their file.
Please Reckon developers make it happen that we actually can attach a pdf file to the bill entry or any other entry in that case and everybody can see this.
Thanks for your consideration and time.
Yes Gitta in this day and age trying to go Paperless it seems odd to me that Reckon cannot develop this into their Hosted software, Xero does it with ease.
@Gitta & @Barbara To be fair, Xero is a completely online program whereas RAH is on Reckon’s servers. When we login to RAH, we’re effectively logging in to Reckon’s hard drive/computers so - whilst there systems are both vast & highly encrypted, it would likely not be possible to accommodate the storage of all documents for all users 😬
Thanks Shaz, what is a RAH server sorry?
But isn't Xero only online?
@Barbara Allen-Guthrie Apologies for the confusion ... "RAH" is an abbreviation of "Reckon Accounts Hosted".
Yes, that's what I mean - Xero is solely "online" whereas RAH isn't, it's actually on Reckon's computers (not "in the cloud" like Xero) 😬
OK I see what you mean now.
Hi Shaz,
thank you for your answer. Do you know if there is a movement to change RAH to web based in the future? That would be ideal as I have a lot of issues with RAH nowadays: Bank feeds, for STP another software is needed and not be able to attach pdf documents to data entries - just to name a few. It is so outdated and tedious to use compared to all the other softwares. Sorry for the whinge. Wish you a relaxing weekend anyway.
Hi @Gitta
Unlike the cloud programs, RAH is actually the original desktop program which Reckon have developed to be remotely accessed. Unfortunately, because the base coding for Reckon Accounts (RA) / Reckon Accounts Hosted (RAH) is owned by Intuit (the original "QuickBooks" creators), Reckon are not able to change certain base aspects of it. From a technical perspective (& the tech-y side is not my forte so apologies in advance if this isn't very clear) but my understanding is that the base coding of RA/RAH is unable to be converted to a browser-based, cloud solution which is why they developed it as a "Hosted" option instead. (@Rav might be able to clarify more on this ?)
Reckon does have their own cloud program, Reckon One (R1). This has a similar interface to Xero & QuickBooks Online (QBO) eg it looks nothing like RA/RAH. None of the cloud programs have anywhere near the feature capabilities of RA/RAH because they're all much more basic. Reckon is the only accounting software provider though who offers all 3 solution options ... desktop (RA), desktop via remote access (RAH) & online (R1) 😊
Shaz yes the reason I stay with Reckon for over 20 years now is I need that Desktop and Online for when in remote areas.
