Hi folks
I have a supplier letter I need to send out asap it's currently in word and pdf formats, I can't seem to find a good file converter to get it into a .des file to save in the template folder, can anyone assist please?
@CindyR

Hi @CindyR
If your letter is in Word format, you can try using the built-in feature to convert and existing document to a letter template.
On the Reckon Accounts Enterprise desktop, there is an additional menu option.
Since there is no longer an integration on the Hosted platform with the Microsoft Office products such as Word or Excel, the menu on the Hosted application is different and does not offer that Customise Letter Templates option.
@Rav
Is that *.doc or a *.docx format?
Kr
@Zappy it wasn't me that posted the helpful info above so I'm not going to take credit.
But to answer your question, the file format is .doc
Hi there @Datarec, thanks for your comment, we're using Accounts Hosted not Enterprise, so this isn't an option. I can however, create a blank document and insert text, but I'm not sure how to access the document to do that as it's on a server and I'm limited with access using the upload/download thingy (to which folder/s data goes to and comes from). I'd be happy to chat if that's possible? How do I send pm to you to send my phone number? (sorry new to this community area), thanks, Cindy
accounts Hosted is the same as Enterprise, which is the desktop version.
Thanks @
@Kris_Williams can I call you to discuss perhaps? I don't have the same options with what I'm using, including not being able to create a new template from scratch. All the help items and very unhelpful. Reckon support suggested adding doc file by importing to templates, however, it only asks for .dse file, so I'm a bit stuck whichever way I turn at the moment.. I'd really appreciate any help here? With thanks!
Sorry I’m not familiar with this feature
@Kris_Williams
No need to apologise
Pretty sure no one is
In the old days we had "smart tags"
Does this still work?
Have you looked in the help files?

just sent you an email, ta!
As part of your Hosted subscription, you can get a single-user licence to be able to install a Reckon Accounts Enterprise 2024 on your local computer. (Contact the Customer Service Team for this licence)
This should allow you to go through the steps of creating a new letter template. Then you can upload that new letter template to your Hosted account.
When you make use of the template editing functionality of the Reckon Accounts Enterprise desktop product, the following article can be useful.

@Datarec
Good idea
In an earlier comment, the screenshot provided was only for the Enterprise desktop. That comment has been updated with a Hosted screenshot that shows the difference in the menu options.
If you make use of the locally installed Reckon Accounts Enterprise software to modify an existing document to become a letter template, you can then UPLOAD that doc file to the Hosted platform.
If it ends up in your Q:\Upload folder, you would need to copy/move it to the Reckon Letter Templates folder, then into the relevant sub folder depending on the letter template type.
Thank you community, I have now resolved this outside of Reckon, thanks all for the comments. Post now closed, no further comments please
