#TipTuesday - Using estimates within Reckon One

Good morning everyone!
I hope you had a wonderful break over the weekend. For today's #TipTuesday, we will be covering the enabling and usage of estimates in Reckon One.
Estimates are useful for business owners that are always out on the road to help them quote the cost of a job. Which can be the deciding factor if a customer has the budget and creates a clear picture of the cost before the job even begins.
Where do I enable Estimates
To enable estimates, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings
- Under Day to day, select Money in
- Click the dropdown for Estimates
- Enable estimates
How to use Estimates
You will notice that you now have the option for Estimates under the Day to day section, here you can generate and send estimates via email before converting it to an invoice for your customers after confirmation they are happy with the cost analysis.
Here is how the Estimate screen will look:
An estimate that is sent via email will be attached as a PDF and display all relevant information in here:
Main features of Estimates
These key features will help you track and review your changes to help improve efficiency, professionalism, and accuracy in your quoting and billing processes.
- Customisable Templates: Create estimates by customising templates with your company logo and adding standard terms and conditions.
- Estimate Expiry: Set an expiry period for estimates, ensuring that follow ups are made and ensuring the newest estimate is sent.
- Conversion to Invoices: Easily convert accepted estimates into invoices with a single click, transferring all relevant details to the invoice.
I hope this is helpful for anyone that was curious about whether estimates are available in Reckon One, I recently assisted a customer with a car washing side hustle who needed to provide accurate cost estimates to customers before issuing invoices. This feature allows you to communicate pricing, set expectations and transparency with your customers. and make it easier for you to run your business.

I’ve also recently noticed that this feature isn’t well-known among some of our customers, mainly because it isn’t turned on by default. So, thanks for spotlighting it on #TipTuesday!
