Managing Inventory and stock available to sell

How to I get an alert to come up when keying orders for inventory items with no stock available. At the moment I can key the order even if no stock is on hand. I only get an alert at invoice stage – but that’s too late. I need to know when I key the order. I have tried fiddling with the company preferences for inventory - but no luck getting an alert at order processing stage….. Can anyone help?

Hmm … I've just tested it & can see the dilemma @Kirsten 🤔😩🙄 I was expecting the warning from the SO but looks like it's only triggered on actual sales (invoice/sales receipt) entry
I'd recommend adding this to the Ideas wishlist!
